Hi, I’m Matt.
I run The IELTS Teacher.
I’m an English language teacher from the South of England (a sometimes-sunny spot called Bournemouth).
I’ve worked as a language teacher in four different countries, and taught English to students from around the world. Some have been as young as 7, others as old as 70. Some have not been able to speak a word of English, others have been near-native speakers. All of my students left my lessons feeling like their English had greatly improved, and, with regards to my IELTS students, this feeling was proven right by their high IELTS scores. I still keep in touch with many of them. They’re enjoying life abroad.
IELTS had always been my favourite type of English to teach because I enjoyed helping students achieve their dreams of studying abroad or landing their dream job in an English-speaking country. So in 2012 I created The IELTS Teacher. Since then, I’ve helped students from dozens of different countries to realise their IELTS goals. I’d like to help you, too.
When I’m not teaching my students, creating useful IELTS lessons, or writing IELTS blog posts, you can expect to find me with my head buried in a book, relaxing with friends, or racing around on (and falling off) my little-bit-too-big touring bicycle.
I’m an English-language teacher from Woodbridge in the UK. Currently, I live and work in St Petersburg, Russia.
In my 13 years as a language trainer, I’ve worked in the UK, Turkey, Lithuania, Germany, Italy and Russia. Most of my experience has been with helping adult learners develop their academic and professional English in individual and group lessons. I get a huge amount of pleasure from helping my students to reach a specific goal with their English and, over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some very interesting people. I’ve worked with all levels, from absolute beginners through to advanced speakers.
IELTS preparation has been a growing focus of mine since I’ve been in Russia, as many students require a band score to be able to work, study, and live in other countries. Helping my students to be able to gain more academic and professional ability is amazing. In 2013, I developed an IELTS-focused curriculum for the undergraduate programme at SWISSAM, Russia’s leading Hospitality and Business Institute. So far, we have helped hundreds of SWISSAM students to prepare for the IELTS exam, while at the same time improving their professional English with industry-specific materials in the IELTS format.
Aside from teaching students, training teachers, and developing materials, I also write a linguistics blog and edit content for IB translations, a Moscow-based translations service which supports the investment banking community.

Hi, I’m Andy.
I come from the UK. After completing the CertTESOL (Trinity College, London), I went on to live in several countries, including China, South Korea, and Mongolia.
For most of the last nine years, I was the programme director and chief examiner for an IELTS programme at the largest education provider in South East Asia.
During that time I helped many students achieve high scores on the IELTS test and win places at universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, America and Canada.
I have now taken my career online, where I continue to help students achieve their goals and realise their dreams. In addition to helping students attend university abroad, I now have a few ex-students who are practising doctors and nurses in the UK and New Zealand!
With a Masters degree in Mongolian, I know how difficult learning a second language can be. I also know how incredibly frustrating it can be to take the IELTS test again and again without achieving the score you need.
Let’s put that right!

I’m a native speaking English language teacher from the very green south-west of England.
I’ve had many different jobs in my life, but teaching English was the first that I really loved. When I first started teaching, 8 years ago in Japan, I soon realised that this was the best job I had ever had and couldn’t think of one which I wanted to do more. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to teach a great deal of different students from all kinds of interesting backgrounds and cultures. Just recently, I’ve returned from beautiful Russia to the UK to work online from here.
Over the last six years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach on a variety of different exam courses, such as FCE, CAE, TOEFL, ILEC, and of course IELTS. IELTS is more challenging to teach than most courses, however it is ultimately more rewarding as well. It is incredibly rewarding to know that you have helped somebody achieve their goal, whether that be getting into university in Finland or moving to Australia.
This is why I began teaching IELTS online. After success teaching online IELTS courses, I was offered the exciting chance to work with Matt. The great thing about having your own private IELTS tutor is that the course is personalised based on your needs, and because it is online, you can study wherever and whenever you want!
